Circular Cities and Regions Initiative

About the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative

Launched by the EU as part of the Circular Economy Action Plan, the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) focuses on implementing the circular economy across Europe’s cities and regions.

The EU’s transition to a circular economy will reduce pressure on natural resources and create sustainable growth and jobs. It will also help achieve the 2050 climate neutrality target set out in the European Green Deal. Europe’s cities and regions are best placed to drive this transition, with many already drawing up their own plans.

The CCRI aims to increase synergies among projects and initiatives, disseminate relevant knowledge, and give greater visibility to best practices. Combining technical and financial support, it offers comprehensive support to stakeholders across Europe’s cities and regions.

Apply now to become a CCRI Pilot or Fellow

We are now accepting applications to become a CCRI Pilot or Fellow! If you represent a competent authority of an EU territory (either a city, region, or territorial cluster), this is your chance to lead Europe’s circular economy transition.

These roles will provide opportunities to build capacity, expand your networks, collaborate with other stakeholders, access and exchange information and knowledge, and increase the visibility of your territory and its activities.

Pilots will work closely with the CCRI Coordination and Support Office (CCRI-CSO) to develop circular economy solutions and receive tailored support, while Fellows will cooperate with the Pilot Group and help establish a network of knowledge and good practices. Read our detailed description of the roles and support for Pilots and Fellows.

To express your interest, all you need to do is fill out our online application form by Friday 29 April. The form is available in several languages (EN, DE, ES, FR, IT, PL), although responses must be submitted in English. Detailed instructions, including information about eligibility, are provided in the form.
